d gallerie Offers Delightful Latin American Artwork

What is art? For some individuals, it is whatever is displayed in museums or what “The Jonses” (that some try to keep up with) have hanging on their walls. On the other hand, certain people believe that art is an addiction, it is beauty, a form of expression, and found in everything around us. Whether you find your heart on one side of the spectrum or shining happily in the middle, there is no doubt that you can relate to a form or piece of art found somewhere in the world. In downtown Saint Petersburg, Florida, there is a new gallery that is bringing Latin American artwork to you. d gallerie, *newly located at 203 1st Street North, is a must-see in DTSP for everyone.

Originally what caught my eye were the vibrant colors dancing through the window. Having been drawn in by a mere feeling of happiness, it was not until a moment later that I realized that the forms I was gravitating toward were actually figures of people “climbing” up the walls. (As a sixth generation circus performer, I immediately fell in love with these figures because they look as though they are putting on a grand aerial performance!) Diving a bit further into the humble gallery, I spotted impressive paintings that allowed my mind to wander off into a relaxing land, fun pieces that made me crave a cocktail in the sunshine, and edgy sculptures perfect for a bold statement. Although the gallery itself seems small, it is packed with a varied selection that changes frequently for clients to enjoy and browse new pieces every time they visit.

d gallerie is located in Downtown St. Pete

d gallerie is particularly special because it is family operated by the Quinteros, who’s roots are in Venezuela. Franklin and Ana travel throughout South America to discover and meet with artists directly, while their sons, Alejandro and Andy, and daughter-in-law, Sara, hold down the fort here in Downtown St. Pete.

When you walk into the gallery, the charming Alejandro will greet you. As he explained the beautiful and rare pieces to me during my visit, I was impressed with his knowledge on each sculpture, but his passion for the art was what I found truly captivating. His eyes sparkled as he spoke about the business his family has been in for three generations.

“I really want every single one of our customers to love what they acquire from us,” Alejandro said as we discussed the gallery’s goals. He then went on to explain that d gallerie is aiming to help Latin American artists branch out and gain new exposure here in The States. The family does a marvelous job at curating diverse art (hence the “d” in d gallerie) that everyone can enjoy in their home, office, or as a gift. They are great at catering to anyone’s needs and always put the customer first. Whether you simply walk in, set up an appointment, or rather have Alejandro come to your house with a few pieces you are interested in – The Quinteros will help you find the specific piece that speaks to you and fits your needs.

I have saved the best part for last. The quality of each piece is absolutely superb, however, the price tags are excellent too! With items ranging from $25 to $5,500, d gallerie gives everyone the opportunity to own a unique art piece at an accessible price.

Whether you work, live, or play in DTSP, d gallerie is a 5-star business to visit. Believe me, you will be pleasantly surprised! Tell Alejandro that DowntownStPete.com sent you and post a picture onto Downtown Now (after you create your profile) of your favorite pieces of art in the showroom. We can’t wait to see what you gravitate towards!
