Dream Child – The Trial of Alice in Wonderland

May 24, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Dream Child at The Dali - DTSP - 2016

Dream Child: The Trial of Alice in Wonderland – a play written and performed by 2015 Hawthornden Writing Fellow, Roxanne Fay.

Written to highlight the Disney and Dali: Architects of the Imagination exhibition, the play Dream Child: The Trial of Alice in Wonderland journeys through the surreal worlds of memory, sin and absolution within the mind of Alice Liddell, Lewis Carroll’s original muse and inspiration for his timeless stories.

It is 1932 and the very grown up Alice is having a new adventure; she is coming to America. Though on the surface her trip is to attend the centennial celebrations surrounding Carroll’s 100th birthday, her true purpose is much more personal, more frightening and more visceral. Is she merely entertaining old memories? Is she seeking absolution for the past? And from whom?

Performed by the author, Dream Child: The Trial of Alice in Wonderland utilizes many familiar images and sounds, featuring artwork by Coralette Damme.

Fay is performing this play exclusively at The Dali on May 24, followed by two performances at Studio 620 before it will be performed in NY at the Bridge Street Theater.

Doors open at 6pm. Enjoy a drink and a bite to eat at Cafe Gala before the performance.
