Join the excitement every second Sunday of the month beginning in January 2016 (thru April 2016) as Downtown St. Pete transforms into a vibrant cinematic experience. The event is not only free of charge, but it is also family and dog friendly! There is nothing better than gathering everyone together for an evening of laughter with your crew. Speaking of “crew,” DJ Fresh and his will be providing tunes for your musical enjoyment prior to the movies, making Movies On The Lawn a Certified Fresh Event.
Grab a bite to eat from one of the food trucks and don’t forget to bring your blankets and lawn chairs to snuggle up and enjoy a “short” produced by local independent filmmakers, via the Sunscreen Film Festival, right before each feature presentation.
Cinema Squatch is a Cinematic Event Company owned and operated by the dynamic duo: Ryan and Heather Tarrant, who bring the big screen to you. According to Ryan, the name of the company came from the legend of Sammy The Sasquatch and the story goes something like this:
“Sammy the Sasquatch lived in the forest outside of a small village. Sammy would sneak into the village at dusk, set up an old projector he found at a forest sale, and project on to old man Barwicks’ barn. The village folk would all gather and watch the only movie they had, ‘Harry and the Hendersons.’ He would leave nuts, berries, and popcorn for the town folk so they could enjoy their classic film without having to go spend all of their savings at the big corporate movie theater. After the movie would end and everyone went home, he would sneak back in, clean up, and take his movie equipment back to his tree house.”
Gather with the amazing community to join Sammy the Sasquatch as he brings the movie theater to you. Creating this event was tough work for Sammy, but thanks to the city of St. Petersburg, these following sponsors, and YOU – he has made it all possible!
