It is refreshing how diverse St. Pete is. From the businesses and events, to the virtuosos behind each establishment, there are no two alike. For example, meet Vicky Vantsouris (Also known as Vicky Anglo), owner of Anglo Couture, a couture bridal design house located at 689 Central Avenue. This woman is a Goddess of Fashion Design with jaw-dropping designs and personal elegance that radiates.
Are you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering who this woman is? Vicky, born in Greece, went to school for Fashion Design in Boston. This is where she met her husband, Dimitrios. These two Greeks were a match made in olive and feta covered heaven. “We’ve been together a long time,” Vicky said with that beautiful grin on her face, suggesting maybe I shouldn’t ask how long. So I’ll let you do the math.
In 2002, the couple eloped to Sin City, wink-wink, Las Vegas, after being together for six years. Fast forward a few more years and two decided to tie the knot even tighter in front of their loved ones. They had their second wedding to each other in front of their closest friends and family in Vicky’s hometown of Athens, Greece. The Vantsouris recited their vows in traditional Greek fashion, some details of which was made famous by that popular “Greek Wedding” film about a decade back. The setting was a classic cathedral located directly under The Acropolis of Athens. After the ceremonial festivities, the Vantsouris celebrated their romantic honeymoon as they island hopped throughout the Greek Islands with all of their friends and family. Sounds delightful, doesn’t it?
Vicky and Dimitrios made the move from Boston to St. Pete in 2006. “We moved to St. Pete because everything is at your fingertips,” says Vicky. Although she believes Boston and NYC are beautiful, the Vantsouris were looking for a city that had a more inviting environment to raise children in, vs. the big city hustle and bustle.
This beautiful couple has one son, George, the love of their lives! He is eight-years-old and was born right here in St. Pete. “He is an amazing kid,” says Vantsouris, evidenced by his vast array of hobbies that include playing soccer for the St. Pete Raiders, Greek dancing with SPIFFS, and skateboarding around his neighborhood. According to his mom, “He’s a cool kid all together.” Vicky goes on about how she and her family love all of the events that St. Pete has to offer, such as any of the parades and the St. Pete Grand Prix. One of George’s favorite things to do is grab gelato with his parents at Paciugo’s on Beach Drive.
When George is hanging out with his pals, his parents get to enjoy a night out on the town, they love to go to downtown St.Pete! Vicky and her husband’s go-to places include the fashionable restaurants Bella Brava and Stillwaters Tavern and the beautifully decorated, swanky bar Mandarin Hide. Always hip and exciting Push Lounge is Dimitrios’ absolute favorite, which causes Vicky to laugh and exclaim, “we’re party animals!” Of course they are, they’re Greek! Somebody grab the Ouzo and throw some plates….Opa!!
Vicky, with her passion for high-quality style, her business savvy and her unique experiences and heritage, all combine into one delightful business woman, mother and wife, someone that DTSP is lucky to call a local! Vicky Vantsouris is certainly one of the Key Personalities that help make up the vibrant Downtown St. Pete community.
